Frequently Asked Questions
Notes for all Presenters:
This document outlines the hardware and software setup you can expect for your WIPTE presentation. Please review this document carefully and contact the local arrangements team at VT with any questions or requests. Requests should be made no later than 10/11/10 and should be sent to Cheryl Peed (peedca@vt.edu)
Paper and Keynote Presenters:
Each keynote and paper presentation will take place at The Inn at Virginia Tech. A Tablet PC and projector will be provided for use during your presentation. If you prefer to bring your own laptop or Tablet that is also OK. In either case, wireless Internet access will be available in each presentation room. If you plan to use a Tablet provided by WIPTE, please contact Cheryl Peed (peedca@vt.edu) to make software requests.
Poster Presenters:
You will be presenting your poster in Cascades at The Inn at Virginia Tech. We will provide a tri-fold poster board 4’w x 3’h that will be displayed on a table in the room. We will provide push pins or tape for you to display your poster on the tri-fold. A power outlet will be available near your poster, but please bring a power strip if you need to plug in multiple devices. Wireless Internet connectivity will also be available in the poster area. Please let Cheryl Peed (peedca@vt.edu) know if there is anything special you will need or if you will not need a tri-fold board or table.
Video Presenters:
You will be presenting your video alongside the posters in Latham DEF at The Inn at Virginia Tech. Please let Cheryl Peed (peedca@vt.edu) know in advance if you will need a screen, Tablet PC or projector to present your video.
Hands-on Sessions:
You will be presenting your hands-on session at The Inn at Virginia Tech. We are providing twenty Tablet PCs for use by the participants in your session, as well as one Tablet PC for use by the presenter (although if you prefer to use your own Tablet PC that is fine). In either case, wireless Internet access will be available in the presentation room. The room will also have a projector and a screen. The VT team will be preparing a Tablet PC software image prior to the conference. Based on earlier communications with you, we anticipate the following software needs: Journal, DyKnow Vision and Monitor 5.2, Classroom Presenter, OneNote, Tablet Flash Cards, ChemPad3 and Tablet Math Whiz. It appears as though “Tablet Flash Cards” refers both to a commercial product and to a non-commercial application. So, if you requested to use this software please confirm the version you need to use. For those of you who are using DyKnow, we will provide server access, a moderator account, a set of student accounts, and a DyKnow course. If you have needs that are not on this list, or if you wish to discuss specific software versioning or configuration please contact Cheryl Peed (peedca@vt.edu).
