| Abstract: |
The Tablet PC represents one of the newest innovations in the computing and communications world. However, evidence on the effectiveness of Tablet PCs in college classes is mixed. Results demonstrate that using Tablet PCs increases students’ attendance, engagement, and class participation, but findings related to the overall impact of this technology on students’ achievement is neutral [1]. Further, since virtually no evidence exists on Tablet PC’s impact when utilized with students from underrepresented groups, studies focusing on this population are needed. This paper will present results of an investigation that examined the impact of using Tablet PCs on the learning experiences of engineering courses at a historically Black university.
